We are entering the 2019 season for Project Dance. Project Dance is an outdoor dance concert that is the outgrowth of Cheryl Cutlip’s leading to use dance to bring hope and healing after 9/11.
Project Dance has been ongoing for 17 years. and while it started in New York City, it’s now in a number of major cities around the US and the world. I was first introduced to Project Dance during their Houston concerts, led by Randall Flynn. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Randall and Daniel introduced me to the world of dance that is performed at a very high level, but is inspired by Christ.
Project Dance is highlighted by the concert, but it is more than just that. The project has expanded into multiple days proceeding the performances with workshops and master dance classes. Also, the weekend is an opportunity for artists, and the public to explore the intersection of art and faith.
This weekend is the beginning of Project Dance in 2019, with Houston leading the way. For the public, the main event is Saturday from 11am to 6pm at Discovery Green. If you have never seen Christ glorified through dance, you are in for a treat. Even if you just want to see great dance, you will love it. This is a FREE event so be sure to take advantage. You will be moved and blessed.
Following Houston, Project Dance will be in New York, Orlando, Costa Rica, Taipei, Paris and Pittsburg.
I’m very excited about Project Dance and all that it entails. Great art honoring the Lord. If you live in, or are planning to be in any of these cities, I highly recommend checking out the concerts.
If you want more details on Project Dance and the dates scheduled at the different locations, you can find them linked HERE.
Lord willing we’ll have more information from the Houston event and the project overall soon.
