Not Ride or Die, but Proverbs 31

A lot of rappers talk about having a woman who is ride or die for them. God blessed me with someone WAY better; A Proverbs 31 woman!

Sadly, I didn’t always know what a Proverbs 31 woman was or recognized that my wife was one. While that is unfortunately true, the story of how I realized that I do have a Proverbs 31 woman, is one of my favorites.

The first time we lived in the Atlanta area I was doing a read the Bible in a year plan. Now I’m the type that if I miss a day in a Bible plan, I don’t try to double up to catch back up. I’ll just keep going and be however many days behind. In this Bible plan I was some amount of days behind and I was reading through Proverbs.

At the same time Chantal and I were trying to decide if we would accept a promotion that would move us to the North East. We literally had to have an answer for the company that Monday and it was Sunday.

The reading for Sunday included Proverbs 31. As I read the Proverb it just slowly dawned on me that This Is My Wife! I wept. Realizing how amazing she is overwhelmed me. To know that the Bible calls her blessed was just awesome. What just put the icing on the cake was the final verses. They say,

30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her the product of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates.

Proverbs 31, NASB

These two verses answered our prayer. “Give her the product of her hands”, take the promotion and move as she has earned the product of her hands.

I told her how God made it clear that as she is blessed, we are blessed because of her, and that God says to take the promotion because she has earned it. To bless her with those words, and the look on her face as she received it was just a highlight of my life.

While all this was amazing, the part that also sticks out to me is that the Lord knows us. He KNEW I’d be praying and needing an answer that Sunday. He took into account that I was days behind the schedule. When I started the Bible plan He knew. There is no coincidence or luck with our God… HE KNOWS. Our God has a plan. He answers my/our prayers.

Thank you for reading to the end. It’s great sharing this story of God revealing how amazing a woman Chantal is and reminding me that God knows His children.

God bless, and Lord willing, I’ll see you tomorrow.
